Do it Yourself 'Jewelry Holder'

I LOVE this!

My bestfriend showed me this, I believe she snagged the idea from another chicky. Such a brilliant idea, I love the look and it was free :)

So it's really easy! Walk out of your home and search for a good lookin tree branch! I spotted this baby on my way home from work. Preferably the branch will be on the ground, we don't want to unnecessarily maime trees... So because I don't care about being tacky I used multi-coloured thumb tacks to hang my branch. I'm sure you could find decorative nails that would blend in. I just used what I had around the house. So besides the light switch and outlet, I think this looks pretty great :)  It brings an earthy tone to my bathroom, and it goes well with our shower curtain which has a big tree on it! Easy, Fun, Affordable!

Cheers! xo

Zen Day!

Hello all :)

Jeez it's been a while since I blogged on Sunday!
I started my Sunday off today teaching a lovely class at the downtown GoodLife location. We focused a lot on hip strengthening and leg toning.

Here's a great stretch for your hips, if you every find their bugging you.

Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (Pigeon Pose)

Benefits:
  • Stretches the thighs, groins and psoas, abdomen, chest and shoulders, and neck
  • Stimulates the abdominal organs
  • Opens the shoulders and chest

Anatomical Focus:
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Abdomen
  • Hips
  • Groins
  • Chest
  • Shoulders

Alignment:

I like to come into this posture from 'Downward Facing Dog'   Bring whichever knee you choose through between your hands, sit back on your hip. Full expression of the posture would have your front leg at 90 degrees but more often then not you'll have your leg at 45 degrees instead. Try to square off your hips, look behind you and make sure your back leg is reaching back straight behind you. Don't worry if your hip isn't quite on the ground. You can always use a prop such as a green foamy to support the gap. Once in position I like to come forward. Relaxing over the front leg. It feels really wonderful on your hip :) Send your breath into the area of sensation and try to relax into this pose. Have fun! The source for this blog entry was found @ yogajournal.com

Here's an example of the use of a prop. Very helpful tool!

Hope you all had a beautiful weekend. A bit grey in Victoria, but c'est la vie!

Namaste :)
